Has anybody ever succesfully set up TCP/IP with Windows for Workgroups. Ipconfig /all is perfect, I can ping myself. Can't ping anybody else. Sign onto network, machine just hangs. Don't get it. Thanks. Glen A. Johnson

Got it. Yes Windows 3.11. After spending almost a week, I was just about ready to give up. I'd tried 3 seperate nics, searched all the knowledge bases and nothing. The machine would hang when I entered the password. I finally decided to verify the nic by installing it in mine. NOTHING! I pulled my aopen and got some drivers and had it up and running in a matter of MINUTES. Who would have thought all 3 used nics could be bad. Plus they were common nics. Thanks. Glen A. Johnson

I can't believe Windows 3.11 is still being used by someone, somewhere.

I mean, holy crap!

What's it running on? A souped up 286?

Nope - I'll bet it's a soaped up 386 'cos we all know WFW needs lube!

Old software and hardware running machinery out in the shop. In order to upgrade to W9X, the cost would be over $70,000, so the boss doesn't want to pay it. (Can't say I blame him, the company shouldn't have to pay it if it doesn't need to.) WFW works great. Just need to remember some of the old time stuff. Actually, it was kind of fun. Fdisked the hard drive, loaded Dos 6.22, then W3.11. Went on to figure out how to make TCP/IP work on it. Kind of like making Thomas Edison's first phone work with a wireless. Thanks to all who helped in the other posts.
