Windows Faxing

We have windows 7 64bit Professional Clients with a Windows SBS 2011 DC. We use windows faxing via an usb modem attached to the server. When the clients attach an excel document either xls or xlsx to a fax, at the other end all they receive is a blank page. All other attachments fax fine PDF, JPEG, DOC, DOCX etc.

Is it just a case of excel not being support or is there something else

Any help would be most grateful

As you seem short of replies I'd thought I'd post this, but not being a Fax man I'm also not sure it is relevant, but at least you know people are reading your question, even if I like me, they don't know the answer.
