windows explorer will not Displays 1

windows explorer will not Displays the files and folders when clicking with the mouse, it defaults to search.
Tried tools - Folder options - file folder (file folder has find and print directory listing) Tried to delet print directory listing but cannot as the buttons are not highlighted.
Tools - folder - explorer and open

Please let me know the procedure to reset the windows explorer to Displays the files and folders.

PS: researched on the web but could not get any help.
Please help as I going crazy about the windows explorer
