Hi

This isn't a question but an observation.

Something that I never noticed before.
I don't know if you could do this in XP or not, if you could I was oblivious to it.

I was reorganizing some backup files and thought I had a duplicate folder. Since I had several false starts I wan't surprised.

I changed the name of one of the folders so I could move it into the same master folder as the other one.

Then I realized that I was wrong and the folder should be where is was to start with.

The problem was that I didn't remember exactly where in the hierarchy I had moved it from.

I thought "Boy I wish I had Undo".

Not really believing that, that was a possibility I clicked on Edit at the top of the screen.

What do I see? an undo button.

I was able to backtrack, back through the steps I had taken renaming moving etc. and get back to where I stated.

I really didn't know that you could do that and I have been using computers since DOS.

UNDO, Delete, Rename, Move, and Copy, have been around for a while. You also have the Ctrl + Z keyboard shortcut which can undo things including any text you may type.

System Restore can undo your mistakes if they involve anything but your data files. System Restore can even undo restores back to earlier restore points under certain circumstances.

The Recycle Bin can save your bacon too, as can regular backups.

It is always nice if you learn something new, that's also the reason I like this forum.

Thanks for sharing your recent discovery, for you, it was a sort of good news story.

yep, can do this in xp, even if you delete a file, it'll automatically retrieve it from recycle bin.

however if you remove it from recycle bin, or use Shift + Del, then you can't undo that...

Yeah, I've used Undo MANY MANY times, I must admit. Sometimes, the undo's don't undo just right, but 99% of the time, they work perfect... well, so long as you don't do the shift-delete thing, which I've ALSO done on accident. That is a humbling experience, to say the least!
