This is just something that's annoyed me to no end over the years. I like Windows Explorer a lot, but the Recent Folders in the Address Bar doesn't really seem to be all that recent. I notice it mostly at work where I am likely to go through oodles of folders in a given day, and some of those I might hit several times in one day, and need to go back. Sure, I can find it very easily, but if I try to use Recent Folders, many times, that folder is not in the list, but one I know I've not looked at in a week or two DOES show up.

Is there any way to customize this, maybe specifically clean that cache item, or change some settings on how it's populated?

I'm pretty sure the cache is in %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent. You can't customise how Windows populates it however, except to turn it off altogether.
