Windows Explorer problem

With Windows it just seems to be one thing after another. I just reformatted and installed Win2k Adv. Srv and installed the latest service packs and updates. The problem is I can't see my folders in the left pane in Windows Explorer, it is just a big grey box with a x to close it at the top. I have looked around and found a so called fix for 98, but not sure if it will work in 2000.

Anyone have any ideas......???
