Windows Explorer Problem

I am experiencing a problem with windows explorer. when i right click on any application and go to Explore. it is giving me a problem...

Program Error:
explorer.exe has genetated errors and will be closed by windows. You will need to restart the program...

this is the message and the application quits... Its a windows 2000 professional. i did a fresh install and no other applications are loaded except Anti virus...

If, in Explorer, you right-click and application and choose .....

There is no Explore option that I know of. Do you mean Open, or Properties?

On the Start Button there is an Explore All option, is this what you mean?

This error is related to an application that is not compatible with Internet Explorer 6.0. Your options are:

(1) Uninstall any application that may not be compatible with IE6 (possibly the AV program?)
(2) Uninstall IE6 and revert back to earlier version (You don't want to revert back to earlier than IE5.5 or your computer will be open to virus worms)

I had this same problem on a workstation in my environment. Turns out the user installed an Olympus Card Reader that was not compatible with IE6 which caused the Windows Explorer.exe errors. As soon as she uninstalled she did not get these errors.

I found a solution for this problem... there was WS_FTP installed in this computer... i uninstalled that application.... This fixed my problem...
