Windows explorer causes explorer.exe to restart

Whenever I try to use Windows Explorer, Explorer restarts with a dialog box that states "Explorer.exe has generated errors and is being closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created."

I believe that this started after some game or MP3 player softwrae was installed. Short of reinstalling Windows 2000 Professional, does anyone have an idea how to fix? I don't know where the error log is to look for additional clues.
