I'm using autodesk autocad 14 on a dual monitor system, When I open a drawing in windows explorer it opens and everything is good. But when I minimize the first drawing and try to open a second drawing in windows explorer the first drawing maximizes and the second drawing does not open at all. I need both drawings to be open at the same time with one on each monitor. Any suggestions on how to make this happen.

Hi,

I'm not sure what happens with dual monitors but AutoCAD 14 does not have the MultiDocument Interface that later releases have. What I mean is that in R14, you can only have one drawing open at a time but with 2002 say, you can have as more than one..

In R14, when you open a drawing and there is already one open, the old drawing will close and the new drawing will open in it's place..

It's been such a long time since I used 14 I can't quite remember what it can and can't do exactly, so don't shoot me if I've got that wrong!!

Cheers,

I agree with Paul. The only work around is to have to instances of AutoCad running at the same time. This can be unpredictable and cause crashes, so I recommend that you upgrade to at least AutoCAD 2000.

Whoops, I noticed a typo in my post as I clicked submit post. I thought I stopped the first message but I guess not. [thumbsdown]
