Doesn't anyone know how to change Windows Explorer default startup folder? ie; Instead of starting in My Documents, I would like it to start on the C:\ Drive.

Thanks in advance

Try this with a copy of the shortcut on your desktop first:

1. In the START menu, locate the All Programs submenu item for Windows Explorer (probably in Accessories).

2. Right-click on it, select "Copy."

3. Click on START to put menu away (or click on the visible desktop area).

4. On an open area of the desktop, right-click, select "Paste."

-- You now have a copy of the shortcut --

5. Right-click the desktop shortcut for Windows Explorer you just made, select "Properties."

6. In the field "Target" you should see something like:
Code:
%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe

7. Edit this field to look like:
Code:
%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e,c:\

8. Click the OK button.

9. Open the shortcut (double-click if you're still in "Windows 95 before the web mode" otherwise just click it).

If you like this, you can edit the START menu shortcut for Windows Explorer as well as any others you might have. I personally always keep such a shortcut in my QuickLaunch Toolbar, 'cause I use Windows Explorer so much.

There may be a registry tweak to make this the default - I'm just not aware of it.
