For about a week now, my Asus laptop running 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium insists on installing Windows Essentials 2011. It tries to install then says that it has failed because "your computer has a different build."

OK, I'm good with that, but then it wants to load again the next day.

I do have a firewall running, but all my other updates do alright.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Daniel

There are a few problems with Windows Live 2011, it might be a good idea to hold off on it unless you really need it.

You could tell Windows Updates to "Hide" the update for the time being.

Your current problem might be fixed if you temporarily stop Anti virus programs and other security programs from running while doing the download. It might be baulking at the currently installed Windows Live software, which if you like, you could uninstall before updating.
