I have a program which runs fine on my computer, but gets the following Windows Error Screen frequently on my customer's computer:

------------------------------------------------------------

This program has performed an illegal operation and will be terminated. Quit all programs, and then restart your computer.

If the program consistently encounters problems, click the Start button then select Help, Troubleshooting, and "If you have trouble running MS-DOS programs".

The program encounterd a general protection exception.

------------------------------------------------------------

I am running Micro Focus Workbench ver 3.2.46. I don't know what version(s) of Windows my customer is running.

We can exclude Windows XP.

"This program has performed an illegal operation and will be terminated": This is a general purpose error courtesy of Microsoft, which by itself means practically nothing or anything.

As for the infamous "general protection fault" message, this may help:

Do you get any further error messages? Blue Screen of Death with it's not so helpful messages would be better than nothing.

Dont know about Microfocus but I've had problems with
dos apps in windows. Check the config.sys for
SHELL=C:\COMMAND.COM
FILES=??
BUFFERS=??
Are you compiling the program in BIG mode if so you may
need a DPIM manager loaded in DOS.

Thats all I can think of a the moment --
