Windows display too few colors. Can't get it to set at 16-bit

When I turn on my computer the message "windows is curently set to display too few colors for best performance. We suggest you change your display setting to 16-bit (thousand) color or higher" but when I check it the setting shows the setting as being right. After running a diagnostic an error shows up :DL_VIDEO.DLL. What can I do to fix this. Thanks in advance. blake1@Vnet.net
