Windows Desktop Update

I didn't see this method of implementing the Windows Desktop Update in any other threads, and I thought it was worthy of sharing here.

This method works if you have the entire IE setup directory on your hard drive. All you do is edit the iesetup.ini file. In the first section, Options, set Shell_Integration from 0 to 1. That adds the option of the update to the installer. Then install IE 5.x/6.0.x as you'd normally do, I'd reccomend installing or re-installing everything so that it works smoothly afterward.

Do you have the quickbar menu with this ? Near the start menu ?

If you mean quicklaunch (and possibility of other) toolbar on the taskbar - then yes, that's part of the Desktop update.

Do you need to be a local administrator to install the IE upgrade ?

Probably - I always run it (and other installs) from an adminstrative user, though I think Power Users can install some things.

I did the right thing but I don't have the quicklunch... I was on IE 5.5 SP2, i upgrade to IE6 SP1 and I changed the Sheel_Integration...

Any hints ?
