Hi All

I have been using RIS for quite some time and would like to move to Windows Deployment Services, just a few questions:-

1. Is it possible to use WDS with windows xp sp2
2. If it is possible anyone know any good documentation.
3. Am I better off staying with RIS if not what are the main advantages of WDS.

Cheers

Christy

1. Yes you can deploy XP i think you need to run in legacy mode to do that.

2. Documentation is a bit poor just like RIS

3. SP2 will install WDS so you will have to go that way at some point, legacy mode is similar to RIS but it can take a bit of tinkering to get it running again after SP2.

IIRC, if you don't have RIS installed BEFORE installing SP2, AND have images in it, installing WDS will default to native mode, with no way of going back to legacy mode.

I could be wrong, but I remember having that problem at a client site about 6 months ago.
