For the past 3 weeks, I've been receiving warnings from Windows Defender daily that my system has a virus (even after telling W D to delete or quarantine the file). It identifies it as 'BrowserModifier:Win32/ISTbar'. I run Norton & AVG (both AV & AS) programs and Ad-Aware, SpywareBlaster & Spybot S & D on a regular basis but they find nothing. I've searched myself and ran HiJack This but could not find anything. Is this a 'false' flag or am I missing something? Has anyone else run into this problem? FYI, I'm running Windows XP Pro with IE 7.0 and thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Thanks Trevor for the site. I bookmarked it for future reference (hopefully unneeded). Unfortunately, I can't find any of the files or processes mentioned there. A search of the Registry produced zero results as well. I've set Folder Options to show hidden and protected op sys files & I'm running 'Selective Start Up' in sysconfig. I don't think that should screen anything from my view.

On the plus side, I haven't received any warnings from Windows Defender regarding ISTbar for a few days. [ponder]

Thanks for that site again! Bob
