Windows current version missing

Have had numerous problems since removal of a Trojan horse that just messed me up beyond belief and have been researching and trying things for weeks so I decided to reinstall But I Can't find the manual with my product key. I searched the knoledge base and found out I could find it on my registry H Key_Local_ Machines\Software\Microsoft\Current Version. Is this for w98 SE as well because I can't find Current version it is missing.
Any idead, need my key
