I'm evaluating whether or not to use a Windows Service or a Windows Console application to satisfy a client-based need. It'd be great if I could have a Windows Console app kick off and run a piece of code in either timed intervals or during certain times of the day over using the core code in a Windows Service. Is this at all possible, and if so, how could I go about doing it?

Thanks!

There is a task scheduler built into Windows operating systems which allow you to run an executable program. Or, if SQL Server is installed, you could use a scheduled job to run an executable program.

ca8msm, the core code is already written in C#. Rewriting it is not an option at this point.

RiverGuy, unfortunately right now the database that's being used is Oracle. We'd love to transfer it over to SQL Server when we can but the goal at present is to just get what's there up and running. How would I be able to access the task scheduler in order to get it running the app?

Thanks again!

Sorry, I just meant that you should post it in a relevant forum as it is not an ASP.NET question. For C#, use forum732

Start Menu-->Programs-->Accessories-->System Tools-->Scheduled Tasks.

ca8msm, you initially recommended VB.NET so I was confused. I'll take the question there. Thanks!

RiverGuy, thanks!
