Windows Closing Immediately Problem

Whenever I click on Explorer or My Computer the windows are immediately closing. Has anyone seen this problem? How can I fix it without doing a re-install?

Weird!!

1). What version of Windows?
2). Only the My Computer and Explorer windows?
3). If WinNT/2000, log in as a different user. Problem remain?
4). If Win9x, does it do it in Safe Mode?
5). Possibly hardware (mouse)
