Greetings,

I have an issue with Vista Ultimate and ac2007. The front end .mdb gets copied via login script to each users desktop everytime they log in to make sure they have the latest version. When the .mdb is launched the user gets "Windows Cannot Find" then the path to the user's desktop and .mdb is listed then "Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again."
...meanwhile, the db opens up just fine but with this annoying message saying windows can't find it but it's opened anyway.
This does not happen on XP pro machines.

Does anyone have any suggestions other than switchingn back to XP on all machines :)

Thanks,

How are ya Hovercraft...

I have a similar setup for my database, when the user logs in it checks if it is the latest version by seeing if it matchs the main DB on the server. I got this error before only if my frontend was not connected to the backend which was on the server or if the frontend was not pointing to the same location as the backend. I have a table in my frontend which links to my backend with the path to the backend saved in the table, if this has been changed i get that error aswell. Hopefully you have a similar setup and this will help you.

nim180 Thanks for the reply.

I think it may be similar however, my update is not done through tables but rather a User Logon Script through Active Directory. It just deletes the file from the desktop and then replaces it by copying the file with the latest changes to the desktop.

here's an image of the error

This error occurs no matter when you open the app, but only the first time you open it after newly logging on.

yes that is the error which i also got, i fixed it by placing the master database backend and frontend on a server and put all the instances of the front end on each desktop and then pointed the frontend on each desktop to the master copy on the server. From what i remember when it happened to me i was unable to open the database. I think what is happening here is you are running a batch file of some sort to delete the older version of the DB and then the batch file copys the master onto the desktop but for this to work the master copy cannot be kept in the same directory as the copy of the frontend otherwise it will delete itself. Im persuming you are using the master to replace the deleted file.

Hope that helps.
