Hi everyboby just joined this great site. I have just started a new job and one of my first tasks is to add Exchange 2000 on to the domain. After looking at the network setup I have found that the Active Directory is called mycompany.com with a private ip range, we have also registered mycompany.com with internic and have an isp hosting mycompany on their DNS servers, We have seperated our internal network with a firewall that is handling our web access. The problem is that our internal Active Directory Server is using our ouside DNS address in its own DNS settings and when I go to add another Server for a our internal Active Directory network (mycompany.com) it cant join because it is looking to our external also (mycompany.com). I am no a Windows 2000 expert but can I change our Active Directory Server to use its own DNS settings, install Exchange server on it and let Exchange pull the mail from our ISP for mycompany.com without changing our internal domain name. I know its a bit of a mouthful there but I got roped into this situation and need some sort of guidance, it is only one small network.
