Hi! The Windows' address book (under START, PROGRAMS, ACCESSORIES) is linked to Outlook Express. If I add a new contact in Outlook EXPRESS, the contact info is also available in the Windows' address book.

QUESTION: How can I link Professional Outlook (ver 2000) to the Windows' address book so that when I enter a new contact in Prof Outlook, it is also available in the address book (under START, PROGRAMS, ACCESSORIES)????

Thank you - dddivers@earthlink.net

Why do you want to link windows address book with Outlook?
Why not just use oulook by itself?

You could inport your windows address book into outlook and then just use outlook by itself from that point on.

Also you might find more specific help in the

I have a client who wants to be able to access his contacts from the Windows address book without having to open Outlook (wants to use the contacts in other applications for mail merges without going thru Outlook). Everything we've tried to make the Windows address book pull in his contacts from Professional Outlook doesn't work!

Thanks very much for your response and time.

Hello dddivers,

In your IE internet options/programs, is microsoft outlook be chosen to be the program to handle e-mail? If not, do so.

Hi back! Yes, it is. I think I'm gonna give up on this mystery.

Thanks again!

dddivers,

Open up the address list (wab.exe). Dropdown Tools |Options and choose the radio button "Share contact information among outlook and other applications..."

Hi tsuji. Opened wab.exe, and Options is not a listed choice under the TOOLS menu. Could this be a version difference?.....I have Windows XP Home Edition. I looked for the radio button option in a few other menu spots in the wab.exe address book (also looked for this option directly in Outlook Express), but no luck.

Thank you again for trying to help. Very kind.

Take care -- dddivers

dddivers,

In that case, you should be using oe6. That would be more complicated. You have to do some registry change. This is the .reg file for this purpose, enabling the sharing.
Code:
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WAB\WAB4]
"UseOutlook"=dword:00000001
For manual inspection, look into the subkey as specified above. The valuename "UseOutlook" should be created under it of format REG_DWORD. 1 is enable, 0 is disable the data sharing.

If enabled the sharing, from you wab, when you click Help|About Address Book, you will see different message from the present info.

Thanks again TSUJI! I'll check into this.

Appreciate it very much -- dddivers
