My computer came with windows me can I install windows 98se from an upgrade disk

My experience is No, It won't work...
WIN Me came after WIN98 SE.
Me is a terrible O/S and 98 SE is pretty good.

If you want to change.. best way is to format c:/s the disk and load WIN 98. You will need a standard WIN98 the upgrade will refuse to load. You wil also have tolaod all your applications again.

You can do a clean install (ie, remove or reformat existing partition and create a new one if necessary first) from a win98se upgrade disk, but you'll need a qualifying product disk during install (eg, win 95)
