I have reinstalled my video card drivers. Aparrently my resolution and amount of colors will not change. I change them and it tells me to reboot and I do and the changes do not take effect.

My monitor is a Super VGA 1024X768 (something like that).
I have a Trident 3DImage 9750.
My hardware acceleration is at none.

Will somebody please tell me how I will be able to fix this problem.

How are you closing out of the change? Don't have a 98 in front of me but I remember once I was closing out incorrectly and it took about 6 times to figure it out. Ed Fair

I have had something similar to this happen to me. I couldn't get my resolution, or my colors to change. I called tech support and this is what they had me do. Uninstall the monitor and the video drivers. When 98 detects your monitor and video card unplug the monitor. 98 should put in place default settings that will give you your resolution.

only plug your monitor in long enough to start the installation. unplug monitor imediately upon saying ok or yes to anything.

or... just right-click on My Computer, and choose properties... go to the Device Manager tab, go to monitors, and you will probably see a monitor device called Default... double-click on it and go to the driver tab... click on the update driver button, and make sure you choose the radio button that says "Display a list of all the drivers in a specific location, so you can install the driver you want."

you should then be able to select the manufacturer and model of monitor you have...

now if it is an older monitor, i would highly recommend going into "Standard Monitor Types" and choosing "Super VGA 800x600"...

if you reboot, and get gibberish, reboot to safe mode, change it back to "Standard VGA 640x480"... leave it there until you get a new monitor...
