Windows does not startup by itself anymore. Instead it boots to dos mode and asks: "Do you want to switch back to run windows applications?" if you choose no, the computer comes to the command prompt. If you choose yes, it will then restart the machine, and come to the same thing again.

I am able to boot normally by chooseing the step-by-step confirmation from the windows boot menu. I choose yes to EVERYTHING except these:

DOS=SINGLE
DOS=HIGH,VMB

When I say yes to everything, and no to the ones that I showed you above, it works fine. My question is how do I disable these options during the automatic boot process?

I think they'll just be entries in the config.sys file - so just REM them out (start/run sysedit to edit config.sys - type REM then a space in front of entries you don't want to run). Presumably some old software you've installed has placed them there (may be some 'unwanted' entries in Autoexec.bat too). You don't actually need any entries in either file for win98 (except, maybe location based ones - eg, mine have entries for UK).

Ah . . . that was it. Thank you so much. :)
