I did some work on a clients computer systems, they have a medical database program running on their network of three machines. The front computer is a server, and the back computer connects to that server. I did extensive changes on the front computer, reinstalling the program, etc. I did not change that much on the back computer, just some registry settings relating to that program, however I changed them back right away. Now the user complains that the back computer resets every so often. Anyone know what the prob is?

If it is not software problem, may be some hardware problem, like bad contact on some card, memory or bad cpu cooler or something like this.
Try to check it. Contacts and cooling system can break down in every time.
Also check power supply cooler.

In the 1960s you needed the power of two Comodore64s to get a rocket to the moon. Now you need a machine which is a vast number of times more powerful just to run the most popular GUI.

In the past when I've had this problem it was a bad power supply.

I'd look there first.

If it's not that, then it could be a bad system board.

Also do not overlook any possibility of restricted ventilation and poor cooling or over-heating problems.

Try using canned air on your video and/or CPU cooling fans as one possible improvement.

the system went dead yesterday, i was installing windows 2000, hit next during the setup process and it just turned dark. The power is on, however nothing works, have to turn the power off by unplugging it. The power is on, nothing comes on the screen. Looks like a cheap motherboard gone bad.

Before doing anything else try to change power suply as 'tgus'
suggested.

That the fans has whirl or that the computer runs before, does't mean that the power supply is now good.

I has to solve this situation 2 times:
Computer restarts after 1 or 2 minutes after boot ( several times ) and than it dead = fans has whirl but nothing else and
solution was power supply.

Symptoms of the Blaster Worm
