I need to install some new fonts and when I went thru Control Panel - Fonts install new fonts I get a message that either I have too many fonts installed or the font is corrupted. I deleted a lot of fonts and still am getting the same message. I installed these fonts to another Windows 98SE computer and they installed OK, so I know they are not corrupted.

Is there a maximum number of fonts the registry handles? I currently have 950 fonts on the system. And if this is too many how come after I deleted 25-30 fonts, I still could not install any new ones.

Windows 95/98 has a limit on the amount of fonts installed. The limit is actually based on the length of the file name for the font, so Microsoft says its around 1000 fonts. If you have fonts that are installed in a folder other then the system or fonts folder the entire path is written to the registry which in turn takes up more space and reduces the amount of fonts you can load.
When you deleted the fonts to make room for the new ones did you reboot the computer to flush the registry? You may want to do that then try to install the new fonts. Or you may wish to run some type of registry cleaner to help purge the old font information Chuck
