I have a three computer network connected through a Netgear Router. Two of the computers are working fine; however, I reinstalled windows 98 on the third computer and now I can't get it to recognize the network. This computer is connected to the network through a Network Anywhere 10/100 FastInternet adapter. What should I do?
Thanks,
jnix

What do you mean by "can't recognize the network". No internet connection or you can't see the other computers?
What happens when you try to ping the router?
Start -> Run -> Command -> ping 192.168.0.1
substitute the address with whatever your router address is, tho by default that's probably it.
If File and Print sharing enabled? You will need this to see the other computers and to access their files.
Right click Network Neighborhood -> Properties -> File and Print Sharing button. Reboot and recheck.

My favoured approach with 98 is to remove all networking elements and let windows reinstall them - its fixed the problem many times for me.

1) Does the network adapter show up properly in Device Manager (with the right drivers)?

2) Did you check to make sure the workgroup name is the same as the other PC's (right-click Network Neighborhood -> Properties -> Identification)?

3) Does the internet work?

After fighting the identical problem Friday, but with linksys on both ends of the cable, I'm gonna do an over the top reinstall myself. And a forced reload of the linksys BIOS.

wolluf,
sometimes it does, and sometimes it doesn't. Mine didn't.

cdogg,
yes,yes,yes.
