Windows 98 Dial-up Server: Connects, but Disconnects

I have written a client/server program that works fine over a intranet useing tcp/ip.

I need to get it work over a network with 2 computers connected via modems.

I'am using 2 windows 98 se machines.

My problem is that the client machine dials and connects to the server, but when it gets to the part where it verifys username the connection fails.

I want to know if anyone knows what should be filled in for the username on the client side
