I would like to know why a windows 95 machine shuts down properly but still runs scandisk at startup? What can I do to rememdy this?

Thank you.

Youll have to open a DOS window to do this.
type: edit msdos.sys
Take a look and see if there is a line referring to scandisk...if set to 1 change to 0 after doing this:
You must change the attributes of this file which can be done by typeing at the dos promt: attrib msdos.sys -r -w
Than edit the file as above and save.
After saving change the attributes back by saying same as above but a +r +w.
