In Windows 95 Explorer when you go to File New and choose the application you want to create a new file for (for example Wordperfect Version 8) I get an error that it can not create that file type, but it can create all the other file types listed. I have removed WordPerfect Suite 8 and reinstalled and still no difference. Does anyone know which registry key controls this type of activity?
I WILL NOT SWEAR TO THIS, but:

Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT

Backup your registry! Export the folder for WPD files and save it to the desktop. (Click on folder, hit Registry (on the menu)-Export. This backs up the registry folder. (If the following steps are unsuccessful, double-click the folder on the desktop and it should return the registry to what it used to be.)

Then right-click and remove the WPD files.

Launch Wordperfect, which should recreate the registry association.

Dreamboat, I'm not sure I understand what you intended to impart here. Could you clarify with a few more lines?
It sounds very interesting (coming from a guy who likes simple solutions) but I don't understand the mechanics behind the operations.
Thanks for any reply!
You will be removing (I believe) any Windows association for WPD files, which seems currently to be *^$#) up. When you launch WordPerfect and it doesn't find the association, it should recreate it. When you removed WP, did you uninstall it? And, if you did, the WPD association registry entry probably remains behind. Just a guess.

Good guess, and thanks for the reply, Dreamboat.
Roberto, did it work?
I gave this a try and it didn't work. I did run the de-install program that came with the WordPerfect Suite and then re-installed the program. I finally resorted to calling Corel and the technician said he was having a similar problem. They are supposed to call me back today. I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks
