here is our topology: 2 win2k3 servers that are dc, dns, wins we also have a couple of win2k servers in the mix. one of the win2k servers has both token ring and ethernet card in it for a couple of pc's that run an application over token ring.

ever since we've upgraded to win2k3 we've noticed that these 95/98 pc's cannot authenticate to the domain. the win2k server that has the t/r and eth cards used to be a domain controller. we demoted it during the upgrade. is it possible that i need to re-up it to a dc to get these clients to authenticate to the network again.

We are having the same issues. Can anyone advise how we might resolve this issue

Have you disabled SMB Packet Signing? IT looks like with Windows Server 2003 SMB packet signing is enabled by default and this isn't supported by Windows NT 4.0 SP2 or Windows 95 without the Directory Services Client.

The Directory Services Client for Windows 95/98 is on the 2000 Server CD, I am not sure whether it is on the 2003 CD?
