I get this when I create a new user and then try to login. I have already checked the registy to see if there are .bak extensions and nothing is there. The only ones listed in ProfileList are the original accounts.
I should mention this is an imaged PC. I used WDS to image this so I am not sure if sysprep'ing had anything to do with this.

After creating this new user are you rebooting the machine?

Have you checked the Status of the User Profile Service in Services, mine is set to automatically start.

Are there any other Services or processes that could be interfering with your attempts?

Try running ChkDsk to check your drive for errors. Right-click your Drive icon/ Properties/ Tools/ Error Checking. Try it first by not checking either box (Read-only mode) to see if it flags any hard drive or file problems. If it does, start by ticking both boxes, in any further rerun.
