Here is the solution I found for the problem with SonicWall Global VPN client unable to renew IP address and sits in the status of Acquiring IP.
It looks SonicWall Global VPN client needs default ports such as 500 ...
Look for the processes that are using default ports. In my case I noticed that Windows 7 default IKE and AuthIP IPSec Keying modules services is using them so I stopped that service from services control pane.
I killed SVGVC.exe and re started SonicWall Global VPN client. Now I enabled connection. It worked like a charm. I troubleshooted a lot thinking that some software firewalls are blocking connection. I even uninstalled Norton Internet security.
