Hi i have a DC/AC on a WIndows 2000 server machine.
I am trying to connect my laptop running windows 7 pro to the win2000 domain.

Steps i took ..
my computer properties -> network ID
->join computer is part ofbusiness network
->comoputer uses a network with domain
->enter username/password/ddomain with user found
->add domain user account
then i get to a page where i select level ofaccess for user
options are 1.standard account 2. administrator 3.others

here is my error. after selecting access this message pops up
"The user could not be added because the following error has occured: The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed."

I try googling for days with no solution.
Pls Help THanks

I would be willing to be that the Windows 2000 server doesn't know what your Windows 7 workstation is. This is probably being done to force people to upgrade from Windows 2000 to something later.

Have you tried removing the machine from the domain, delete the computer account from the domain and adding it back to the domain?

Yes i have tried removing the machine from the domain , deleted user and rejoin and still error. however i did found a way around it by joining the domain through command line.

add-computer -domain username -cred domain\username
