Hello,
I have a Windows 2000 Pro laptop that after I did Windows Updates won't let me login after reboot. I can get as far as the login screen. Once I enter my login info, it appears to be logging in but then immediatly says it saving configuration and gets me back to the login screen.

I tried safe mode and last known good config. I even tried swapping out the RAM and booting it up to a 98 boot disk and ran fdisk /mbr.

Nothing seems to work.

Anybody?

Symptoms sound like pagefile issue (you get this behaviour if zero size/non-existent pagefile - eg, when drive letters have been changed, and pagefile drive either doesn't exist or is now a CD ROM for example).

Could this have happened to your installation? You could try booting into recovery console to see what drives it thinks are there. Or try a repair reinstall (which will lose windows updates - keeps data, settings, apps though)
