Hello all. I am having a problem accessing only a few shared folders from XP Pro clients on a workgroup server. There is no domain involved here. I recently had to change from an AD domain to a workgroup. Each user has a folder on the server. After joinging the workgroup from the domain some user folders are not accessable. It just gives a access denied error message. The odd thing is that it is only a couple user folders and not all of them. I read something on MS about efs encrypted files, but there is no encrytpion that I can see on these folders. This one has me stumped. Any help is appreciated.

Just went through this, might be the same thing.

On the XPpro clients, go to control panel-> network connections

right click your local area connection, go to the advanced tab, unclick that DAMN BUILT IN FIREWALL.

Hope you guys have a real firewall.

Good luck
