Windows 2K server backup error

I backed up my files to a remote storage device. When I try to restore, I get "file is unusable, cannot restore. It might be corrupted. Please delete or backup again"

I need to retreive at least some of this and I heard there might be a way. Help!!

I would place the tape into a test box with a standalone drive if you have one and install BE. Then import the media into BE and see what if any errors it gives you.
