I have a windows 2008 terminal server and it doesn’t seem to want to redirect printers. The printer drivers are the same on both the client and the server.

The client machines are all windows 7, the RDP client are all set to redirect printers and they are running version 6, the terminal server manager is set to redirect printers but it doesn’t seem to want to do it. They is also no group policy

I’m going to keep working on it but any help will be most grateful

Phil

Is this happening across the board for all clients or does it even work for just a few? Are the printers locally attached or are they network printers? Also, what is logged in the Event Viewer on the Terminal Server regarding printer redirection?

Its happening to everybody, all the printers are localy attached and the error in event view is

Driver HP Deskjet 1050 J410 series required for printer HP Deskjet 1050 J410 series (Copy 1) is unknown. Contact the administrator to install the driver before you log in again.

All the drivers are allready on the terminal server

On the clients you may need to copy the tswpfwrp.exe from a vista machine located in the %windir%\system32 folder. Also need to verify that .Net 3.5 is installed on the clients as well.

I know it sounds really off the wall but that is what I have had to do on XP and Windows 7 clients.

Windows Haiku:

Serious error.
All shortcuts have disappeared.
Screen. Mind. Both are blank.

I will look into the tswpfwrp.exe file. i have just checked my machine is running .net 4 and i have just rdp on to windows 2003 TS and it has reidrected my printers

Dont know if this helps
