Windows 2008 R2 Domain
I've created a GPO named File associations so that I can change the default program jpgs open with on a Windows 2008 R2 terminal server. The GPO however is not applied. This even happens with administrators along with regular users, so it does not seem to be an actual access error. If I create a brand new test user, the policy gets applied to them once. If I change the association, and log them in again, it fails.
The message displayed in event log after a user logs in to the server with the GPO applied is :
The user 'jpg' preference item in the 'file associations' Group Policy object did not apply because it failed with error code '0x80070005 Access is denied.' This error was suppressed.
The Actual policy setting is in USER CONFIFGURATION > PREFERENCES > CONTROL PANEL PREFERENCES > FOLDER OPTIONS
Open With (Extension: Jpg, Program: C:\Windows\System32\mspaint.exe)
Action: Replace
Properties: File Extension jpg Associated Program C:\Windows\System32\mspaint.exe set as default: enabled
Options are all NO
Anyone have ideas where I can start looking?
