Hi

One Active Directory account stopped working yesterday, it transpired that the password had expired. - when the password was changed it working perfectly. However,

• It was not set to expire for over 300 days, as set in the default Domain Security Settings

• This was the only account that expired

• There were no warning regarding the password expiration

There was no clues in the event viewer. Does have anyone have ideas/tips/utilities that I can use to investigate this further?

Thanks

Accounts can be set to auto expire. My experience is when it expires, it also expires the password. Re-enabling the expired account doesn't un-expire the password (even though the password was never set to expire). Since there are no clues in the event log, your best bet is to blame it on the earth's magnetic field being affected by sunspots and then try to make someone else prove otherwise.

Start, Help. You'll be surprised what's there. A+/MCP/MCSE/MCDBA
