Hi
1. Please could someone tell me if there would be any issues having a mixture of windows 2003 SP2 and R2, when using DFS?

2. Also would there be any issues using a mixture of Windows 2003 and Windows 2008 as DC's
Thanks Vin

Hi,

From my experience, mixture of 2 type of OSs with DC's is not a good choice. I got the problem with 2000 and 2003. Kerboros are slidly different for some reason. Cause trouble later. Doing domain trusting will have error.

Regards,

MA

I ran mixed environment 2000/2003 with trusts and never saw any issues.

That said, for DFS, R2 is the way to go.

I'm Certifiable, not cert-ified.
It just means my answers are from experience, not a book.

DFS prior to R2 is really ugly and is to be avoided if you are moving a large amount of data around or some files are large. It breaks, a lot....

R2 DFS-R rocks and can be pretty much used for just about anything you want to use it for.
