Dear Techies,
I’m planning to upgrade our AD estate (currently Windows 2003 SP1) to Windows 2003 R2. I just wanted to find out from those who have done it, what to watch for. I know that the upgrade involves schema updated to accommodate the new DFS-R attributes and server roles.
I have two major questions:
- Is the OS upgrade relatively smooth (AD services, DHCP, DNS etc)
- This is particularly important: How easy / difficulty is it to migrate existing DFS links to the new DFS name space:
o Can the existing DFS function after the upgrade?
o Does the existing DFS work if new DFS is being implemented?
o What is involved in the link migration (we have a big DFS structure)
Any advise would be appreciated.
Regards,
