Hello,

I have the 180 day trial version and have attempted to install it on a standalone PC (which matches the required specifications).

On installation I was requested to insert the Windows Server 2003 CD which - I did( I only had the trial CD).

Anyway certain files could not be found on the CD so were not installed...on with the installation....

Once installed I cannot install Active Directory onto the server. It keeps requesting the Windows 2003 Server CD...Obviously, I only have the trial version CD.

Surely, all the extra tasks such as Active Directory etc should be available to install on the Trial CD...??

Am I doing something wrong...Hope someone can help. Thanks in advance for your responses...

Simon..

squoggy,

The 180 day trial version of Windows 2003 Server contains (I believe) Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition. Some of the files may be in different directories than what the installation expects.

My advice would be to clean the CD, reinstall, and make note of the files that could not be installed.

Thanks for your response ..also forgot to mention it wouldn't install explorer.exe from the CD...anyway I'll try what you say later and let you know the outcome...

Thanks...

I have just been using the 180 day trial version and it installed OK. I guess you have a faulty CD.

Thanks for response...

I have used another cd..but the same problems keep arising on install.

Once I have installed it, I try to install Active Directory from adding a role to my server but keep getting a message saying:

Failed ....replication failed...

Any ideas...
Thanks,

simon..

are you choosing new domain in new forest?

have you given your server a fixed IP (i think it detects this, but never know...)?

Hello again,

I have chose a new doamin in a new forest and also given it a fixed IP address...the message I get at the end of failed active directory installation is as follows:

"File Replication Service: the dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion"

Any ideas...thanks,

Simon..
