Hi all,
I tried today to install ms sql server 2000 sp2 on windows 2003 server and I got the message:
ms sql server 2000 sp2 not supported in these windows. Do you want to continue?
I clicked Yes and it continued. After the install the server runs ok. So what was this message in the beginning?

Thanks and Merry Christmas to all!

George

It is not offically supported on 2003 below sp 3. That it runs may or may not be a good thing because who know if it will blow up. My advice is unless you have a really really good reason why not to upgrade to sp3, i would do so. Even if you didnt, i hope you made sure the slammer patch was applied to it.

Used to be you couldn't even load SQL Server 2000 onto Win2003 without already having SP3/SP3a installed on SQL Server.

FYI if you aren't aware: SP3/SP3a included the fix to stop the SLAMMER worm which affected SQL Server. That's why Microsoft doesn't like SQL Server 2000's without SP3/SP3a.

Hi guys,
and thanks for answering. That's why the SP3a cd was also in the package :)
I will install it.
Thanks again and Merry Christmas.
