I am migrating Interbase Server 5.0 to Windows 2003 Server. Have used
IBAffinity etc and resolved the obvious issues but still have the folowing
problem.

There are 2 ways of using BDE to connect a delphi app to Interbase
1. using \\server\drive\path\database.gdb
2. using server:drive:/path/database.gdb

I currently use the first but this will not work to link to Windows 2003
server - some type of rights issue as it works when logged on with admin
rights (I think its something to do with the default share permissions which
were changed in 2003). Option 2 works for all users but gives very slow log
on times and very slow response times.

Can anyone offer advice on resolving this issue?

Thanks

Paul.

I had also some problems with migrating to Windows 2003 (connection failed, was solved by stopping and restarting the server). I heared via via from Borland that Interbase supports W 2003 from version 7.1

Paul,

InterBase < 7.1 isn't certified to work with Windows Server 2003 - there are several problems to be dealt with.

For example, did you turn off SYSTEM RESTORE on the drive with the database?
