Hi All

I have a big problem with my file server on Windows 2003 R2.
I have about 300 users with their mobile profiles, data and pst files. There are about 450 GB of users data.

Sometimes server not respond to SMB requests and avaiable works items of server work queues down to zero. Additionally queue lenght of server work queues rises about 120-150 elements and nonpaged pool memory of server service starts grow. This situation accours for 30 - 60 sec. and everything return to normal state.

Addtitional software : Symantec Antivirus client 10.1.4.4000

Other performance counters :

open files : 400
current clients : 200
Processor time : 25 %

I thought that SAVCE 10 and Windows 2000 SP4 were source of problems, so I reinstalled operating system to Windows 2003 R2, but this not help me.

Any idea what is wrong and where I should search source of problem ???

Thanks for reply

There is nothing about this problem in event viewer, everything is OK, also while problem occurs only server service doesn't respond to SMB requests, utilisation of CPU is normal about 25-45%, ping works, terminal services too
but end users who work on files in remote folders can't do anything.

Additional always before problem occurs I don't see any abnormal behaviour of performance counters or system resources

Tom
