hey folks!...help me out. I just moved to a windows 2003 server domain network with active directory. I'm runniong TCP/Ip printing with HP print servers. The printers are insatlled locally on my servers then shared to clients. My question is how do i setup some kind of notification that will notify my clients after their print jobs comlete. Like the type that netware has. is that possible?. Do i need special software?.

All help appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Obs,

Only way I know to do this is via a registry tweak.

System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Providers]
Value Name: NetPopup
Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
Value Data: (0 = disabled, 1 = enabled)

Click on Start | Settings | Printers.

Make sure that you do NOT have a printer highlighted.

Click on File, then Server Properties (if a printer is highlighted, you get a different menu here).

Click on the Advanced tab, and tick from 'Notify when remote documents are printed'.
