Hello I am trying to reinstall Windows 2003 on my desktop.
I have 3 Windows 2003 genuine installation CDs. I've used all of them to install Windows 2003 on other PCs previously, including this desktop.(a.k.a there is nothing wrong with the installation CDs) However, this time it keeps on giving me this message after I reformat C:\ using NTFS.

"Setup cannot access CD containing the Windows XP Installation files.

To retry, press ENTER. If you are not successful after several tries,
quit Setup. Then, to restart Setup, copy the Windows installation files
to your hard disk.

To quit Setup, press F3."

Now, no matter how many times I press "Enter". It doesn't work. :(
I've copied ntdetect.com and ntldr from the CD to my HDD

I've done attrib -s -h -r boot.ini using recovery console.

But it still doesn't work...

Can someone please explain why this happens?

It looks that it is either a faulty CD-drive or a corrupted CD!

CDs can go wrong at any time!

Try the same thing on a different machine!

Regards,
Khalid

hook up a USB CD-Rom and see if it works. If so, replace your internal CD drive.

What's Windows 2003 got to do with Windows XP? (or the other way around maybe?)
