I Wonder if someone could help?

I have a Windows 2003 server that sits on our LAN and gets access to the outside world via our proxy server.

I can access ftp sites through IE6, however if I try from the dos prompt it can not resolve the host.

Any positive comments would be welcomed.

Thanks

What type of command are you running?

Can you ping and resolve the name?

It sounds like your proxy may have configuration to allow IE to pass on port 21. In order to allow DOS FTP out, the proxy will need to have a "gateway" piece installed or configured. If it is installed, you will run something like the following from DOS:

c:\>ftp

ftp>open proxyserver_ip_here
User (proxyIP:(none)):your_FTP_username@your_ftp_server_IP
Password:your_FTP_Password

Hope that helps.
